Our Approach to
Community Engagement

Every community is different. Every project should be too.

No two communities share exactly the same values, priorities, or aspirations. That’s why we are committed to ensuring that every community becomes a genuine partner in shaping what a project looks and feels like.

When you tell us what matters to your property, your family, your town, and your future, we listen. And we act on what we hear.

Grounded in values, guided by responsibility.

Our approach to community engagement flows directly from TagEnergy’s core values: committed, agile and entrepreneurs.

Our consultation processes have directly produced innovations that are now being recognised and adopted across the industry. They include:

Legacy Community Housing

Through our community engagement on The Pines Wind Farm in the Central West of NSW, we heard a real concern about the impact our temporary workforce would potentially have on the already existing housing shortage. So we established a landmark partnership with one of Australia’s most respected Community Housing providers, BlueCHP, to deliver a suite of 1 and 2 bedroom homes, providing approximately 100 new bedrooms to the local community – permanently.

The homes will initially accommodate approximately 20 percent of The Pines Wind Farm’s construction workforce. Following construction, the dwellings will transition to affordable housing for the benefit of the Oberon community.

Tagenergy will also contribute capital and ongoing funding to subsidise the long-term affordability of the homes, ensuring they remain accessible to those who need them most.

Neighbour Insurance

Neighbours have told us that one of their concerns about living alongside a wind farm was the risk of inadvertently causing damage to project infrastructure.

Through our Nearby Neighbour program, participating neighbours are covered under the project’s own insurance policy for any damage to wind farm infrastructure they might accidentally cause. This ‘Hold Harmless’ model has been endorsed by the Australian Energy Infrastructure Commissioner as the preferred industry standard.

A partnership, not a process.

Community engagement for us is not a box to be ticked on the way to a development approval. It is the means by which we build better projects, and the basis of becoming a valued part of the local community.

We are proud that genuine engagement has led us to introduce industry-leading innovations that benefit communities, and together, we are raising the bar for the industry as a whole.
